• Expression of Interest Annual Canvass 2025

  • The Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) is required to undertake a household electoral registration canvass every autumn. The purpose of this canvass is to update the Electoral Register in preparation for the publication of a revised register. The ERO must undertake a personal visit to those households who do not respond to forms that were posted out in August. We are employing Electoral Registration Canvassers to undertake person visits to assist residents in completing the Canvass Form.

Canvass Form – Canvassers need to confirm if the information we hold for the property is up to date. Canvassers need to collect the names and nationalities of anyone eligible to vote who is not yet registered, so that they can then be invited to apply to register individually. If there is no-one eligible to vote, this information needs to be recorded.

All information provided on this form will be confidential and will not be used for any purpose other than recruitment.

  • The Process

  • Annual Household Canvass 2025

This year, the annual household canvass will be carried out using paper forms instead of tablet devices.

The payment structure will be performance-based, as outlined below:

    • You will be provided with paper forms for each non-responding household in your designated canvass area.
    • You are expected to visit each of these households and encourage them to complete the household form. For every completed form returned to us, you will receive £2.50.
    • If you are unable to obtain a response, you must place the form in an envelope and deliver it through the letterbox. You will be paid £0.50 per form delivered in this manner.
    • If a household responds before you are able to visit, we will notify you. You will then need to remove their form from your pack and return it to us. You will receive £0.20 for each withdrawn form.

Training will be provided from 1 October, and the canvass will run from 6 October to 7 November.
