The Stage 2 Review is the final step in the appeals process.
You can only request a Stage 2 Review after a Stage 1 Review has been completed and a decision has been issued.
You must request a Stage 2 Appeal within four (4) weeks of receiving the outcome of the Stage 1 Internal Review.
What happens in a Stage 2 Review
It is carried out by an independent Member-led panel.
The Stage 2 panel looks at whether there was a process or governance error in how the assessment or Stage 1 Review was carried out.
The panel does not re-assess your mobility or hidden disability and cannot consider new medical evidence.
Examples of what the Stage 2 Panel can consider:
- a step in the assessment or Stage 1 process was missed.
- the wrong procedure, form, or guidance was used.
Examples of what the Stage 2 Panel cannot consider:
- disagreement with a clinical opinion or assessment score.
- new medical evidence that was not part of the original or Stage 1 process.
- requests to re-open the case for a new decision.
