PRIVACY STATEMENT
What we ask for and how we use it
During sign up we will ask you some questions about who you are and some more sensitive questions, like your religion and ethnic background. Most of these questions are optional but answering them helps us to:
Understand who is on the panel (such as how many people from different age groups we have)
Decide whether to invite you to a particular activity, so it’s relevant to you and we have a good mix of people
Better understand your responses to public consultations and research activities
Send you information we think is relevant to you based on your preferences
This covers your membership of the Kingston Citizens' Panel only. When you choose to take part in public consultations and research activities, you will be told how your information will be used for each of these.
Keeping your personal information safe and secure
Kingston Council, as the data controller, will keep your information safe and secure in line with UK data protection law. Your information will be processed by relevant teams within Kingston Council. Our suppliers (such as our website provider) may also process these on our behalf but never for their own purposes.
Your rights including leaving the panel
You are free to leave the panel or ask us to erase any personal information at any time. This will be erased from our membership records within 28 days, unless there is a legal reason preventing this. Some traces of your information may be left in some systems (e.g. backups, email archives) but we will do our best to remove these as far as practically possible.
